KANSAS PAIN MANAGEMENT
Worker's Comp Appointment Types:
New Consultation – new work comp patient must be referred by the insurance adjuster or attorney. This appointment includes patient exam & a review of the records. Will assume care as treating physician.
Independent Medical Examination (IME) – a report is generated after this consultation with the injured worker, & a review of the medical records. No patient-physician relationship established unless authorized.
Complex Consultation – injured worker is claiming multiple body parts. A report is generated after consultation, exam, & records are reviews.
2nd Opinion – a 2nd opinion report is generated after consultation, exam & record review.
Record Review – the patient is not seen in office. A report is generated after all records are reviewed. This will include a summary of the records, & opinion on treatment plan.
Disability Rating – for established work comp patients at the request of the insurance adjuster. Physician will exam, rate & generate a report for the disability %.
Deposition – Dr. Gupta is open to depositions at the request of the attorney.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Indications:
- If the area of pain is sensitive to touch
- If there are signs of skin discoloration
- If there is swelling and/or sweating at the area of pain
- Tremors or constant muscle spasms and/or weakness in limbs
- Abnormal changes in hair and/or nails
What Is CRPS?
CRPS represents an abnormal response that magnifies the effects of an injury. Some people respond excessively to a trigger that causes no problem for other people, such as what is observed in people who have food allergies. Peripheral nerve abnormalities found in individuals with CRPS usually involve the small unmyelinated and thinly myelinated sensory nerve fibers (axons) that carry pain messages and signals to blood vessels.
