Dr. Gupta is Board-Certified in Interventional ABA Pain Management and Anesthesiology, and Fellowship-trained. He is President of Kansas Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (KSIPP), an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Kansas City University, and Director-at-Large, Board of Directors, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, (ASIPP).
He formerly served as President of the House Staff Association at John H. Stroger Cook County Hospital (Chicago, IL), and served as Vice President of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees (NUHHE). Dr. Gupta has a special interest in the management of facial pain, migraine headaches, and complex back and neck pain with failed surgery. His outpatient practice, Kansas Pain Management, serves six locations with presence in the Kansas City metropolitan and surrounding rural areas. Hospital Affiliations include Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Surgery Center, Menorah Medical Center, Advent Health, Centerpoint Medical Center, and Belton Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Gupta is founder, President, and CEO of Neuroscience Research Center, LLC. His research site conducts multi-center, Phase I-IV interventional pain focused and medical device clinical trials, including Registry and Observational trials. As Principal Investigator, he has been recognized as one of the highest enrollers. In addition, he conducts original research in Investigator-Initiated sponsored studies.
His expertise is in advanced procedures, including ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve stimulation and radiofrequency ablation. He is one of few physicians in the country to perform ultrasound-guided occipital nerve radiofrequency ablation for headaches and radiofrequency of splanchnic nerve for chronic abdominal pain and chronic pancreatitis. Dr. Gupta’s medical practice focuses on complex spinal procedures, implantable devices, therapeutic BOTOX injections for migraine headaches and cervical dystonia, kyphoplasty, and radiofrequency ablation. He has been ‘Ranked Top Doctor in Kansas City, Pain Management’ every year since 2017.
Dr. Gupta has been awarded multiple awards for research presentations in nationally recognized conferences. Dr. Gupta is an internationally recognized speaker on numerous topics relating to pain management. He is actively involved in providing medical training and education throughout the United States and abroad as a preceptor & mentor and also serves on several Advisory boards as a Key Opinion Leader.
He currently serves on several medical editorial boards of accredited pain journals. In addition, Dr. Gupta has co-authored multiple book chapters, case reports, and articles on various aspects of pain medicine. Annually, he presents at the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience (ASPN), PAINWeek, New York and New Jersey Annual Pain Symposium (NYSIPP), and American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Interventional Pain Physician meetings. He has been an expert speaker at World Pain Congress on interventional treatment for chronic neck pain. He developed the technique for management of chronic abdominal pain, which was published in the prestigious journal, ‘Pain Physician’. He presented at International Neuromodulation Society (INS) on neurostimulation therapy for chronic abdominal pain. Recognizing Dr. Gupta’s expertise in the field of pain management, The American Academy of Pain Management invited him to present his views on the role of ultrasound in the management of back and neck pain. In addition, he demonstrated the technique of ultrasound-guided nerve ablation at the West Virginia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (WVSIPP) for treatment of knee pain.
