Stellate Ganglion Block
What is it?
A stellate ganglion block is a procedure in which local anesthetic is injected onto the stellate ganglion.
How does it work?
This block works by temporarily numbing the stellate ganglion and allowing the nerves in that ganglion to reset in a non-pathologic manner.
What conditions does it treat?
Stellate ganglion blocks are used to treat complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) of the upper extremity and other sympathetically mediated pain states of the upper extremity and head/face.
