What is it?
A lidocaine infusion is when a patient has an IV started and has lidocaine infused into their blood stream for 30-60 minutes.
How does it work?
Lidocaine is a local anesthetic and when given through the blood stream it works to decrease the amount of sympathetic stimulation to the body.
What conditions does it treat?
Lidocaine infusions may be used to treat any type of chronic pain, but it can be very useful to treat neuropathic pain.
