Compression Fractures of the Spine
What is it?
Compression fractures of the spine is a condition where the body of a vertebrae becomes fractured. The body of the vertebrae has a lot of nerves in it and it can be extremely painful.
What causes it?
Compression fractures are most commonly caused by osteoporosis but can also be caused by trauma or other pathology, including cancer.
How can it be treated?
Compression fractures are treated with a combination of physical therapy, medication management, and vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty.
