Spinal Disc Decompression
- Spinal disc decompression therapy can be nonsurgical or surgical. For surgical spinal disc decompression either a laminectomy or discectomy can be done. A laminectomy is the removal of the lamina, or spongy tissue between disks in the spine to relieve symptoms of an injured disk. A discectomy is the removal of an injured disk.
- A small cut will be made on your back where the affected area is. A small amount of disk and bone will be removed from over the nerve roots. The length of the cut depends on how many vertebras, or segments of the spine, are affected.
